Tuesday Tips (New, 2016) - The Shadow Connection
When putting down areas of shadow on a figure, try to keep the shadow area “connected” as much as possible. I say mostly connected because there will be unconnected areas, but overall, a connected shadow area will help unify the whole figure into a simpler statement. It can help solidify a loose gesture into a more believable pose or it can also be the foundation of a more intricate representation of light an shadow in a longer pose (5 min. and up).
